RENOVATING A HOUSE AND DONATION VALUED OVER $5000?

If you are renovating your home or cleaning out a large warehouse of items you want to donate items we will help you make sure you have the right documentation for your tax purposes.  

IRS FORM 8283

• Contact Us for Assistance: If you have large or heavy items, such as cabinets, appliances, or large quantities of building materials, please reach out to us. We may be able to arrange a pickup, depending on the donation’s size and condition.

• Drop-Off at Our Warehouse: Once your items have been pre-approved, you are always welcome to bring your large items directly to Bud's Warehouse. Our team will help you unload and ensure everything is in good condition for resale.

• Scheduling a Donation: Give us a call or send an email at donate@budswarehouse.org to schedule a drop-off or request a pickup. We’ll work with you to make the process as smooth as possible.

For large donations, particularly those valued over $5,000, the IRS requires additional documentation to claim your tax deduction.

• Appraisal Requirement: If your donated items have a fair market value over $5,000, you will need an independent appraisal to establish the value. This ensures that the value of your donation is properly documented for tax purposes.

• IRS Form 8283: If your total non-cash donations exceed $500, you’ll need to fill out IRS Form 8283 to claim your deduction. For donations valued over $5,000, the form requires both the independent appraiser's information and a signature from Bud's Warehouse acknowledging receipt of the donation.
• In order for Bud's to sign your 8283 form, we require that the form be filled out COMPLETELY in advance and sent with your appraisal of items donated.  We will not sign blank or incomplete forms.  
• The form and appraisal can be sent to bud@budswarehouse.org for completion.
